We strip pieces back, repair and rebuild the frame, hand tie the springs nine ways where the piece calls for it, and rebuild the seat in Dunlop HR35 foam so it sits the way it was meant to. We recolour and recondition leather where the hide is sound and replace panels where it is not, and we handle deep buttoning, hand stitched edges and show wood repair. Frame work carries our thirty year guarantee.
Local
A good share of the Toorak work reaches us through a decorator or an interior designer rather than the owner, and that changes how a job runs. The fabric is often already chosen and supplied from a showroom, sometimes a single roll with no chance of a second cut, so the pattern gets planned, chalked and checked twice before a blade goes near it. There is usually a date attached as well, a room being finished or a house being handed back. A finished piece can sit here wrapped until the floors are done and the painters have gone, which beats delivering it into a building site.

Yes. Toorak is a regular cross town run for us from the Eltham North workshop, roughly thirty kilometres south west by road. We collect from Toorak Village, the Grange Road and St Georges Road end and everywhere between, and we deliver back ourselves so the piece is never handled by a freight company.
Almost always. We work from the piece itself rather than the label. Once the cover is off we can see how the frame is jointed, how the springs were set and how the original was stitched, and we rebuild it that way. If a component is not available here we will tell you honestly and offer the closest equivalent instead of quietly substituting something lesser.
With pictures. One of the whole piece and close ups of the arms, the seat and any damage, plus a line on whether it is being kept original or updated. The form on this page sends them straight through, or text them to 0425 832 619. A written quote follows within twenty four hours at no charge. Designers are welcome to send a scheme and a fabric specification instead of photos.
