Good to know

Common questions

Can you repair a booth rather than recover the whole thing?

Yes, if only a section is worn or a seam has split we can repair just that, though when the vinyl or fabric is aging across the booth a full recover usually looks better and lasts longer.

What is the most hard-wearing material for booth seating?

Commercial-grade vinyl is the toughest and easiest to wipe down for food and drink venues; commercial fabrics work well where you want a softer look. We help you pick the right one for the traffic.

Do you build new booths as well as recover?

Yes, we build new cafe and restaurant booths to your drawings, and recover or repair existing ones when a venue is due for a refresh.

Will recovering booths disrupt trading?

We stage the work around your hours and take it in sections, so you can usually keep serving while we work.

What areas do you cover?

All of Melbourne, from our Eltham workshop.

How is booth seating priced?

By the booth, and it comes down to two things. How much of the structure needs attention before anything is recovered, and how much material the shape takes. Buttoned or channelled backs use more labour and more metreage than a plain pad, and a curved booth end takes more setting out than a straight one. Photos of the full booth plus a close up of the worst corner get us to an accurate written quote, free, usually inside 24 hours.

How quickly can booths be turned around?

We work through a room in sections so you keep trading, and we can come in before or after service where that suits the venue better. A single booth is quick once the material is on hand. A full room is scheduled in stages across a set number of visits. The thing that moves the date most is vinyl or fabric lead time, so the sooner the material is locked in the sooner we start.

Can you work around us, or do the booths need to leave?

Fixed booth frames stay where they are and we work on site. Anything loose that lifts out, seat pads, squabs and removable backs, comes back to the workshop where the bench work is better done, then we refit it. Short local runs where one person can manage the load we generally collect and deliver ourselves at no extra cost. Bigger loads go on a carrier and the cost is written into the quote up front.
