Drop in seats, the kind that lift straight out of the frame, can often be turned around same or next day if you give us a bit of notice. Chairs with fixed upholstered seats or upholstered backs take longer because there is stripping and rebuilding involved rather than just recovering a pad. A full set of six or eight is scheduled as one job so they come back matched. As always, if the fabric has to come in on order, that is what sets the start date rather than our bench.

Dining chairs look like the simple job and they often are not. A drop in seat with a sound frame is quick. A chair that needs the joints re-glued, the webbing replaced and the seat rebuilt before a cover goes near it is a different piece of work, and you cannot tell which one you have from a photo of the top.
Fabric is the other half of it. On most chairs the material alone comes to more than people expected to pay for the finished chair, and that is before any labour. Patterned fabric that has to be matched across a set uses more again.
